Two weeks ago Matt Zwi and I attended a meeting with representatives from synagogues across the North Shore, to review security and safety procedures. The meeting was organised by the Community Security Group (CSG) who is responsible for the safety and security of the NSW Jewish Community and for providing advice and any necessary protection to the NSW Jewish Community, its synagogues, schools, events and institutions. Cremorne Synagogue works closely with CSG and its volunteers who you may have met when attending services.
In partnership with CSG, Masada College and all Synagogues on the North Shore, the board has decided to support a security training program to ensure that our members, families and friends are briefed, understand the current threat environment, are resilient and share responsibility for the safety and security of our community. The program will be facilitated by highly trained and experienced instructors from the CSG and will cover basic areas of security awareness, self-defence, personal safety, emergency procedures and much more.
Training sessions will occur once a week for a total of 6 weeks, beginning on Wednesday 25th July 2018 at 7.30pm at Cremorne Synagogue, with the remaining sessions occurring weekly on a Thursday at Masada College (for the remaining five weeks) –all sessions are free, and open to anyone involved in our Community (aged over 18), and no prior knowledge is required.
To register for the free program please send an email to me: firstname.lastname@example.org, providing your full name, date of birth and contact number.
I hope you have all had a great week and look forward to seeing you this Shabbat.
